Los Arcos

1 oktober 2015 - Los Arcos, Spanje

Ready to go again at 8am. However, it was raining!! Doug took out his umbrella and put the rain poncho on. We walked on a path for about two km when we came across a tap in the wall . Out of this spout came red wine instead of water! A little bit early to start drinking but we both had a couple of sips. We continued up and down a hill through a forest. It reminded me of hiking in Canada. After two hours it stopped raining. Our boots kept dry but they were very muddy. A little further down the road we found a little tearoom. Just before entering the village we met Kieran, a fellow Canadian from Halifax who was ahead of his wife. We decided to have coffee together. There were several pilgrims all with muddy boots! We stayed for a long while, enjoying our coffee. However, the wife of Kieran didn't show up. He decided to walk quickly to the next town. That was our destination as well but we took our time. We were not able to buy a bread and we only had a tomato and some cheese. Luckily there were some banana to munch on as there were 12 km ahead of us with fields and vineyards.
Eventually we arrived at Los Arcos. We found a cute little hostel in one of the side streets. The sun was shining again and we walked towards the centre of town. And whom do we see? Kieran and his wife Heather. They had a bottle of wine and asked us to join then together with an American lady, a Dutch girl and a young man from Romania. We talked and drank red wine all afternoon. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Close to 6pm I'd had enough and walked back to the hostel and crawled in my sleeping bag. Doug finished his dinner and came later bringing the dessert back for me.
